Appearance: At 5’3,” Kallen Stadtfelt, upon first sight, may appear to be a doe-eyed sweetheart. Her straightened brick-red hair falls to her shoulders and not a single strand appears out of place. The eyes, surrounded by a light-colored flesh tone (alabaster, to be precise), stand out as being an elegant steel blue. With her hair a rusty color, the eyes stand out, but usually only in moments of fierce passion and unbridled shock. Kallen is a rather light girl as well, there is not much to her body; in fact she has an ideal body for running. However, instead of becoming highly involved in athletics, she portrays herself as a weak-willed young woman especially through intentionally having her eyes half-lidded often. However, despite the willowy-frame, she does have an air of eloquence and just that special something there.

Personality: First and foremost, to understand Kallen, one must understand she is an actress. Kallen often holds back her emotions and puts on the act of being a weak-bodied, quiet, and patient individual. Mostly, this is because she feels it is best for her to be left alone from others who “misunderstand” her background as a biracial person. Furthermore, this quiet attitude also goes hand-in-hand with poor socialization skills. Although she is more than able to talk and get along with some others, she does only cling to certain people who she feels understands her, rather than attempt to befriend the overall populace. Despite this, she does have a kind heart and does cooperate with others well.

However, there are always two sides to every story and the second and last part necessary to understanding Kallen is the truth. She is only an actress as far as she allows herself to hold it in; she often has an impulsive and passionate side which is triggered mostly by acts of racism and talk of addictions (both of which played a vital role in her history). Additionally, she has a slight fiery-temper to her, willing to make sputtered and frustrated outbursts if it seems the best route to take care of a problem rather than talk things calmly over because of her impulsive behaviors. However, this attitude is seen sparingly and only once her attitude has been riled up.

History: Born on March 29, Kallen Kozuki was born out of an unwed union between a rich American business man and his mistress, a Japanese maid, and was the second child between the two. Her older brother, Naoto and her connected from early on and were each other’s companions for quite a large amount of time. Although growing up Kallen was aware that her mother was the maid, she was always very disgusted by her mother’s actions and decision to become a servant to her father. As a child, she was always well taken care of, both she and her brother would play merrily and although she never comprehended her mother’s decision, she was glad that she was around. It was until Kallen was 14 when her older brother, a member of a Japanese gang who was fighting against an American group who initiated a fight fueled with racism, was killed that her world changed.

After Naoto’s death and her father’s decision to marry another American woman who became Kallen’s stepmother and moved into the house (and kept her biological mother as a maid), she became more recluse and took on a “mystery illness,” which in actuality was only a fabrication. Also, her father made the decision at this time to give her an American name, legally changing her last name from Kozuki (her mother’s family name) to her father’s last name for two reasons, 1: giving her a higher status, and 2: to draw her away from her brother’s involvement in a gang and to prevent harassment at school, believing that if she had a high class name, she would be appreciated by her peers rather than mistreated. Although she was often kept at home for long stretches of time (blaming her illness, but in reality hiding from the harassment), she excelled in high school and did well at her academy in Japan. During her second year of high school, she unraveled the truth behind her mother’s decision and realized, after discovering her mother’s addiction to drugs, that her mother stayed on as a maid to be closer to her children. Because of her involvement with illegal drugs, her mother was arrested and placed in prison for a great duration of Kallen’s life. However, this was another monumental action for her.
After this revelation, Kallen made it her goal to make a better world for her mother to live in and to make her dead older brother proud, that she decided to become involved with politics and fix the problems of the world. The first step, she decided, was to continue her education at Evergrove. Through the tumultuous periods of her life, she managed to stay positive and continues to do so, wanting to make the best for herself and those she cares for.
